Christmas is one of the most anticipated times of the year for everyone, however, it is the season where we generate the most pollution. From decorations to gifts, they have a negative impact on the planet.
The Ministry of Environment of Mexico City has reported that the amount of waste produced during the holiday season increases by 25% compared to the rest of the year. All this as a result of meetings, inns, piñatas, the uncontrolled use of disposable plates and cups, gift wrappers and containers. Not to mention the use of lighting systems (lights and ornaments), vehicle traffic, food and pastry waste, and pyrotechnics.
For this reason, Penka offers you some tips to reduce pollution this holiday season. To begin with, 1) use recycled materials to wrap gifts such as magazines, bags and newspapers, 2) don't forget to turn off and disconnect all the devices you are not using, 3) avoid burning fireworks, as these increase gas emissions to the atmosphere and cause unpleasant reactions to animals, babies, convalescing people, etc. 4) if your pine is natural, make compost, 5) choose toys that can use rechargeable batteries, 6) decorate the pine with recycled materials, 7) avoid using moss and hay as decoration, since these plants help prevent soil erosion and increase humidity in forests, 8) shop consciously and only buy what you really need, 9) avoid using single-use plastics and non-biodegradable products and finally, 10) cook only the necessary food and avoid buying in excess.
Penka invites you to enjoy these holidays with biobased and biodegradable products made with Agave fiber. In this way, the war between holidays and environmental pollution is avoided. These products are partially replaced by natural fibers that come from the waste of the tequila industry, in this way a circular economy is promoted and we guarantee you responsible consumption.
